If you’ve been playing Diamond Dynasty lately, you’ve probably heard the buzz around the new 96 OVR May Spotlight Lightning Jacob Misiorowski. Community members on Reddit have already nicknamed him "The Miz," and he is quickly cementing himself as one of the absolute best starting pitchers in the current meta. The best part? He is available as a free reward in MLB The Show 26 just by completing the May Lightning Collection.
If you are looking for a dominant arm to anchor your rotation, here is a practical guide on how to unlock him quickly and how to use him to shut down opponents online.
How to Unlock Him Fast and Cheap
Let’s be honest: grinding out frustrating individual single-game moments can be a massive headache. If you want to secure Misiorowski without losing your sanity, the most optimal route is to target the parallel experience (PXP) program missions directly. Here is the blueprint to fast-track your progress:
Build a Focused Squad: Fill your Diamond Dynasty lineup and bench with May Spotlight and Topps Now series cards.
Farm Mini Seasons: Take your newly stacked team into Classic Mini Seasons and set the match difficulty to Rookie. This is the ultimate sandbox for racking up massive stats quickly while farming extra reward packs along the way.
Complete the Base Missions: Keep an eye on your program thresholds. You’ll want to prioritize tallying 10,000 total PXP with any player, alongside 2,500 PXP specifically using your Spotlight and Topps Now cards. Don't worry about strikeouts too much—you'll easily clear the required 24 strikeouts using your starting pitchers while playing through these games.
The Cody Bellinger Shortcut: This is the secret sauce. Once you hit 140 program points, you will unlock the 94 OVR May Spotlight Cody Bellinger. Put him into your lineup immediately and grind out 500 PXP with him. Completing his specific mission instantly injects 500 program points into your progress, fast-tracking you straight to the final reward packs required to complete the May Lightning Collection and claim your Misiorowski.
Card Attributes & Pitch Mix
Misiorowski is a textbook elite power pitcher, combining top-tier velocity with ungodly break attributes. If you’ve used his lower-rated Live Series or Cityscapes items in the past, you know that accuracy used to be his biggest issue. Fortunately, this Lightning version features dramatically improved control, making him viable at the highest competitive levels.

Gameplay Strategy Guide
Once you get "The Miz" into your rotation, you need to know how to maximize his unique toolkit. He isn't just a guy who throws hard; he is a sequencing nightmare for opposing batters.
1. Maximize the Double Outlier Deficit
Because Misiorowski features both Outlier I and Outlier II, his 4-Seam Fastball routinely clocks in at a blazing 102–103 mph, while his Slider fires in exceptionally hard around 92–93 mph. This tiny speed differential between a fastball and a breaking pitch completely breaks an opponent’s timing window.
To exploit this, focus heavily on pitch tunneling. Throw high-and-inside fastballs, and then follow them up with sliders that break down and away out of the exact same hand release. Opponents will have to swing early to catch the heater, leaving them completely fooled by the slider.
2. Lean Heavily on the Cutter
The addition of the Cutter to his mix is what takes this card from "good" to downright frustrating to face online. When opponents realize they are getting blown away by 103 mph heat, they will start selling out their swings just to catch up.
That is your cue to start throwing the cutter inside to same-handed batters. The slight 5-to-6 inch horizontal movement right before the plate is just enough to catch the barrel poorly, forcing incredibly weak jam-contact and easy popouts.
3. Explode the Bottom of the Zone
Don't get predictable by only hunting for high strikeouts. Once your opponent is thoroughly terrified of the high fastball and the horizontal bite of the cutter, start mixing in your curveball and circle change at the very bottom of the strike zone.
Because the rest of his pitch mix comes in so incredibly hot, a well-timed off-speed pitch dropping out of the zone will generate plenty of ugly, defensive swings and easy groundouts to keep your pitch count low and his stamina high.
